Bullying in sports environment has been quite widely discussed in newspapers in Finland during the past years. Many large sport federations have adopted zero-tolerance policy for bullying in sports.
At the moment, very useful information in the Finnish language is available on the webpage etoleyksin.fi (You are not alone). It contains information to sport clubs, parents, and to young athletes. It also includes online courses for coaches, which are free for everyone. In addition, the webpage provides a possibility to call and offers a chat for an athlete who has encountered bullying.
We organize young athlete training camps where zero-tolerance approach to bullying is followed too. Sometimes our students face such cases in which that type of problems are difficult to trace. Therefore, it is important to explain the rules for young athletes and build a good connection with them. In those camps young athletes are obliged to fill in a document where some bullying issues and other rules are explained.
