Has a PhD in Human Kinetics (Psychology and Motor Behaviour) and is the author of Bullying in Youth Sports Training: New perspectives and practical strategies (with Carlos Neto, António Rosado and Peter K. Smith. Routledge, 2020). He has been involved in research projects funded by the Government of Portugal to prevent and tackle bullying in sports. Recently, he participated in “Child Safeguarding in Sport – Up your game and strengthen your squad!” as a National Expert; this EU-Funded project (organized by the Council of Europe), aims to design country specific roadmaps for more effective implementation of child safeguarding in sports policies. His approach to bullying in sports setting considers complementary levels of intervention (micro-, meso-, exo- and macro-system). The policies and programs developed in sport organizations consider four main standards 1) initial assessment and development of a policy, 2), educational approach of sport stakeholders, 3) definition of procedures to report/manage episodes of bullying, 4) final assessment and monitoring. Currently, he works as a Senior Consultant in Qantara Sports, and as a Professor and Research Coordinator at Universidade Europeia (Lisboa). He is also a Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist in private practice at Self, Psicologia e Psicoterapia (Lisbon)."}
